Encouraging Democracy and Education in America

2020 NEA Virtual R.A

June 26, 2020

We currently face so many challenges that just a few months ago were too crazy to imagine. Our country is changing fast, and we need to stay involved and informed if we are to preserve our democracy and freedoms. Rather than wax philosophical on a number of these issues, however, I will turn the discussion over to our two vice-presidents, and the membership! I invite you to keep reading, and to join the discussion every day on our Facebook page.

I wish you all well. Stay safe, take care of yourself and others.

Sincerely,

Chair Kevin J. Dubois

Voting smart, supporting Democracy!

Updates

Thank you in advance for all your patience and support as we try to go virtual this Season!

For 2020, our button is a special memorabilia special to the Covid 19 situation and the very important 2020 election! Again designed by student Julia Dubois, now 3rd grade at Rockwell Elementary, the Democratic Donkey wears its special covid mask and is ready to vote by mail!

Practice, virtual Zoom meeting for caucus officers and guest speakers only: I will host a prep. meeting just for caucus officers and those we intend to have as speakers the day of our meeting, just to work through any bugs, confirm hosts for the July 1 meeting, etc. The rest of the membership and other guests are all invited to our meeting on July 1, from 3-5 PM EST.

Election of CAUCUS officers, and speakers at our meeting: There was a little confusion in my postings on FB regarding “those running for office” speaking at our meeting. When you read the meeting itinerary below, you will see that at our meeting, ANY MEMBERS RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE (State Rep. Senator, Mayor, etc.) or managing a campaign for someone who is Democratic and education friendly, will be given five (5) minutes to speak in our meeting, then they can provide me with contact info. to post on our website for any members who wish to give their support. I wish to discuss with NEA and our current caucus officers a plan for proper elections for ALL positions in the caucus at next year’s R.A.

Should we be virtual again, we will work with NEA to come up with a fair procedure.
